This release is packed with new features designed to improve the flexibility and efficiency of your work instruction creation and management process. The release also includes key enhancements and fixes to optimize your overall user experience.
What’s New
1. Modularity of Procedures in Mentor
With this new feature, users can now reuse existing procedures across multiple work instructions. All procedures are stored in a centralized library, allowing you to search, filter, and insert them into new or existing work instructions seamlessly. This helps ensure consistency and reduces the time spent creating similar procedures from scratch. Any updates made to a procedure in the library will automatically reflect across all linked work instructions, maintaining consistency across your documentation.
Key Benefits of Having a Procedures Library:
I. Centralized Procedure Library for Reusability:
Users can easily access and reuse existing procedures, helping to reduce the need to create similar procedures multiple times.
Ensures common procedures are standardized across all work instructions, maintaining uniformity in documentation.
Streamlines the content creation process, enabling users to quickly build new work instructions by leveraging existing procedures.
Current Mentor users can move their existing procedures into the Procedure Library and make it accessible to other work instructions as well.
II. Dynamic Updates Across Work Instructions:
Any updates made to a procedure in the library are automatically reflected in all work instructions where the procedure is used from the Procedure Library.
Reduces the risk of outdated procedures being used, ensuring that all work instructions are always up to date.
Ensures updates follow a structured change management process, with email notifications sent to all users affected by the changes.
III. Flexibility in Procedure Management
Users have the option to modify procedures for specific work instructions, allowing for flexibility while maintaining a baseline of consistency and version control.
Procedures are stored within an organization-specific library, ensuring that each organization can maintain its unique set of procedures without interference from others.
The library is built to handle many procedures without performance degradation, supporting the needs of growing organizations.
Users can easily find the procedures they need by searching or filtering by tags.
IV. Enhanced Collaboration and Communication
All users assigned to a specific procedure are notified by email of any changes, ensuring that everyone is up to date with the latest updates.
The feature supports version control, allowing users to track changes over time and revert to previous versions if needed.
Multiple users can work on procedures, with clear tracking of edits and updates.
2. Thumbnail Creation for Non-3D Work Instructions
Thumbnail images are now set automatically for standard (non-3D) work instructions. This replaces the default cube image with a specific thumbnail that represents the content of your work instruction, making it easier to visually identify and organize your documents.
Performance Enhancements
Enhanced Folder Management: This enhancement allows you to easily navigate through the folder structure when moving items back and forth, ensuring that everything stays organized and accessible.
