Release Notes – 03/24/2023
Introduction
These are the latest release notes for CDS Visual Mentor.
Overview
This is version 2.0. This has new capabilities and bug fixes as noted below.
What's New
-
CAD Processor Update
We are excited to announce the release of our latest update to the CAD file processing engine in our software, featuring new and improved algorithms for fluid rendering of CAD models. This update is designed to provide users with a smoother and more fluid experience when working with CAD models in our software.
- Improved user experience: The enhanced fluid rendering of CAD models provides a more seamless and enjoyable experience for users when navigating 3D models.
- Increased efficiency: Faster processing times for CAD files allow users to work more efficiently and complete their work more quickly.
- Higher quality renders: The new and improved algorithms provide users with higher quality renders of their CAD models.
Note - To support the existing instruction’s procedures to use new CAD processor, there is an option available in Procedure page with ‘Retry’ button at the top left. On click of this button, software will re-run the existing instruction CAD processing and make the same procedures available. This would keep the sequence as it is. There could be slight change of orientation of few components which will need manual correction in Studio.
-
Personal Protective Equipment Selection & Configuration
We understand the importance of safety in the workplace, and this new feature is designed to help our users meet safety standards and regulations as per OSHA standard, 1910 subpart I. We hope that this feature will make it easier for our users to stay safe and protected while performing their duties.
- This new feature allows trainers to select & configure the PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required for the procedure which trainees can see as safety instruction in sequence.
- The PPE feature provides users with a standard list of PPE items that they can use in their procedures. This feature includes a default list of PPE, including a Hard hat, Goggles, Glove, Vest, Respirator, Safety Shoe, Ear Muff/Plug, Face Shield, Safety Harness, and Coveralls.
- With this new feature, users can easily select the appropriate PPE for their procedures, ensuring the safety of themselves and their team. Additionally, users can also add new PPE to the list and use them in their procedures.
-
Model Tree
This feature is designed to enhance the animation creation experience by enabling users to select components in CAD for animation and also, configure the components which need to be hidden. Additionally, the model tree is enabled for applying materials to components, allowing users to multi-select parts and apply the material to multiple CAD components in one go.
- Improved animation creation process: With the Model Tree, users can select multiple components directly from the CAD model, making it easier to create complex animations.
- Increased customization: By allowing users to hide components, the Model Tree provides increased flexibility in animation creation.
- Simplified material application: The Model Tree enables users to quickly apply materials to multiple components, streamlining the process of adding textures and colors to the model.
- Enhanced user experience: The Model Tree's user-friendly interface makes it easy to select and manage components, enhancing the overall animation creation experience.
-
Performance Meter
This feature is designed to provide users with real-time feedback on the performance of their 3D models in a web environment, by showing the count of polygons and components.
- The Performance Meter shows the count of polygons and components in real-time, allowing users to view the statistics of their 3D models and take action to optimize it if required.
- The Performance Meter provides clear and concise information, making it easy for users to understand how their 3D models will perform in a web environment.
- The Performance Meter is integrated into the user interface of 3D Studio, providing easy access to performance information.
