Step 1: Click “Add Step” to open the model in Studio
Log in to the Mentor web app and navigate to the work instruction you want to edit.
Click on the “Add Steps” or “Edit Steps” option from the Procedure options. This will open the model in the 3D no-code studio, in a new tab of the browser. Go to the new tab.
Step 2: Locate the Steps Menu in Studio
Locate the Steps menu at the top of the Studio screen, which will expand to show two options: “Add Steps” and “Manage Steps”.
Click on “Add Steps” to open the Steps pane at the right of the screen, where you can add new steps to your work instruction.
Step 3: Fill in the Required Details
In the “Step Title” field, enter a descriptive name for the step you want to add. This will be shown in the viewer as the title for that step.
In the “Step Description” field, enter a detailed description of the step. You can use the text formatting options at the top of the description field to add bold or italic text, and change font color, background color, bullet points, or numbered lists.
Step 4: Add a Questionnaire (If Required)
If you want to add a questionnaire to the step, click the “Add Questionnaire” button at the bottom of the right pane. This will open a field where you can create and customize your questionnaire.
In the questionnaire, enter a question in the “Question” field and select the appropriate answer type (e.g. multiple choice, or short answer). You can also add more questions by clicking the “Add Question” button.
Step 5: Save the Step
Once you have finished creating your step, click the “Finish” button at the bottom of the right pane to save your new step. The new step will be added to your work instruction and will appear in the left pane of the screen.
You can either continue to create animation from there by clicking the Continue to Animation button.
Manage Steps –
To manage your steps, click on the “Steps” menu again and select “Manage Steps”. This will open the “Manage Steps” screen, where you can edit, or delete steps in your work instruction.
Edit Steps –
Step 1: Select the step
Find the step that you want to edit and click on the "Edit" button next to it.
Step 2: Step changes
In the pane, you can edit the step title and description by clicking on the text and typing in the new information.
Step 3: Questionnaire changes (If Required)
If the step includes a questionnaire, you can also edit the questions and answer choices by clicking on the Questions fields.
Step 4: Save changes
Once you have made all of your changes, click the "Finish" button.
Your changes will now be reflected in the step within the Work Instruction.
Note: If you have already published the Work Instruction, any changes you make to a step will create a new version of the document. Be sure to publish the new version information.
Delete Steps –
Step 1: Find the step for deletion
In the Manage Steps pane, find the step that you want to delete. Once you have the step you want to delete, click on the … icon to get delete option.
Step 2: Confirm deletion
Confirm the deletion: A confirmation message will appear asking if you are sure you want to delete the step. Click on "Delete" to confirm and proceed with the deletion or "Cancel" to cancel the deletion.
Step 3: Deletion successful
Once you have confirmed the deletion, the step will be removed from the work instruction.
Note: If you have already published the Work Instruction, any changes you make to a step will create a new version of the document. Be sure to publish the new version information.
