Introduction

These are the latest release notes for CDS Visual Mentor. 

Overview

This is the version 1.0 launched collecting feedback from beta trials. This has new studio and below mentioned other features which were requested by customers during beta trial.

What's New 

• Import CAD file formats (STP/STEP, Creo PVZ)

Mentor supports importing common CAD file formats including STEP, Creo PVZ. Other files types will not import. Upload file sizes are limited to 500MB per file. Each work instruction created would have one CAD file. 

• Create multiple procedures under one work instruction

Mentor supports creation of multiple procedures under one work instruction.

• Procedure category definition as Prerequisite/ Core 

Mentor allows to categorize the procedure as pre-requisite procedure or core procedure which is shown in the application for ease of user to view.

• Rearrange Procedures for viewing

Mentor supports rearranging of multiple procedures so the same order is visible in viewer interface.

• Rich text editor for instruction description

Mentor allows to write steps and provides multiple text formatting options. Instructions to Steps can be both instructive and informative. It also allows to copy and paste of text from external documents.

 

• Hide components in instruction step

Mentor allows to hiding of parts, components during step creation. This allows to create sequence to prevent showing of parts marked as hidden which results in creation of assembly or disassembly sequences easily. 

• User Ratings & Feedback for Instructions

Mentor allows to receive feedback and user rating for procedures from trainees. This brings suggestions from users and lets the Trainers improve in real time.

• Procedure Assignment at user level 

Mentor provides permission setting at the procedure level for users. This allows assignment of Procedure to single or multiple users & User groups.

• Instruction Approval Workflow

Mentor provides approval process for procedures to ensure quality assurance after creation and editing/updating of procedures.

• View with QR code

Mentor allows users to access procedures by scanning QR codes that instantly brings content created in Augmented Reality or Mixed Reality applications.

• Org Theme/Branding

The mentor provide an option to create an organizational entity that could represent teams, business customers, partner companies, or any logical grouping of users who should have different access to application. This allows to configure and customize the log-in experience that users in their organizations would have when accessing Mentor apps. There is easy customization of Login with the company's logo and colors. 

• Revision History (Change Log)

Mentor gets an in-depth view of every change like who made edits, who approved changes, and more. Easily revert back to any previous state.

 

• Version Management

When the procedure is published and approved it gets the version number based on the major or minor selection by user. The current version can be reverted back to an older version of procedure.
